8 Healthy Holiday Tips
1. Eat Mindfully
I know, I know, everything is so delicious around the holidays…who can resist grandma’s triple chocolate cake or Aunt Kathy’s candied nuts?! Eat up, but just do it mindfully! Taste all of your favorite dishes and chew each bite slowly. You’ll enjoy it more and digest it better too. Of course choosing healthier dishes is always best. One of our favorite healthy holiday tips is to go for the veggies and aim for a plate full of color. Add in the other irresistible dishes once you have a nutritious base.
2. Take a Walk Outdoors
Wherever you live, whether it’s warm or cold outside, take a long walk and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. Invite your family or friends to go with you and make it a fun outing. Reconnecting with nature is a healthy way to keep you grounded and refreshed.
Don’t let the stresses of the holidays take your breath away. Now, more than ever, it’s important to remind yourself to take a moment and just breathe. Focusing on your breath and taking slow deep breaths can help calm the central nervous system and oxygenate your blood so you can feel better and think clearer.
4. De-stress with a Hot Epsom Salt Bath
Soaking in the tub is always a relaxing activity but add in some epsom salt and you’ll really feel good! Though salt is in the name, epsom salt is not actually a salt, it is a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. When added to the bath it absorbs through the skin and replenishes levels of magnesium, flushes out toxins from the body and eases aches and pains.
5. Shop With Health In Mind
The best gift anyone can give a loved one is the gift of health! Think of something that is meaningful and can better their overall health, as health is the greatest wealth after all. Gift boxes are a great idea and Wellness Tribe offers a killer Detox box that is packed full of wellness essentials for only $39.95!
6. Make Healthy Holiday Dishes
Choose a fruit or veggie that you love and look up a fun recipe on Pinterest or Yummly, or scope out our blog!
7. Help Others
The holiday season is a time for people to gather and nourish one another with food and shelter. Bring holiday cheer to those in need and volunteer at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen, or simply invite a friend over that may not have any family nearby. Be thoughtful of others!
8. Have Fun!
Remember the holidays are about having fun with the people you love! Play board games with the family, flip through old pictures, share your favorite childhood memories and watch a funny movie! Laughter is key to a healthy holiday.
Happy Holiday Tribe!! xoxo
